ITrans is a great App wether used in Washington or in NYC. You cannot get lost!
Im no longer able to get train information by tapping on a station symbol on the Metro map. :(
Updated review June 2015: Wish the data feed from WMATA was more reliable. Still love this app! Want more features, such as a way to see my estimated arrival time at a station once Im on a train. Prior review: Nice clean design. Very useful app for commuting on the DC Metrorail system. Ive been able to skip over-crowded trains because the app tells me another train on the same line is coming soon. The app helped me on bad Metro days, sometimes more so than the signs or announcements in the station, or WMATAs email alerts. I wish there was a way to go back from the service alerts to the station you were last viewing, but thats a minor complaint. Overall a must-have app for anyone traveling by DC Metrorail.
Useful on a train to keep track of where you are and where your stop is. Cant always sit by the one on the train.
I am able see how close the trains are to their schedule time; a must have for commuters.
As a new visitor to DC who is not used to subways, this app was awesome! I put in my destination from my current location (which you can change if you want), tap start, and it directs you to the nearest Metro station and then gave me choices of which line to use, which was nice when one of the other lines had a delay. It tells you which stop to exit the train, whether you have to transfer lines, and then it lets you know how far you have to walk and shows a map with your route marked out. At each stop you can tap the "locate" arrow at the bottom left and it will usually update which stop youre at (not always, but it did by the next stop) or where youre walking. This app definitely gave me confidence using the subway system. I also found it helpful to select to be notified of all advisories that came out. It just helps you make a wiser decision as to which line to choose if more than one is an option.

Some bad moments

I used this app daily to calculate how long I should allow for metro travel to the commuter train. A few weeks ago it started giving me an "unable to route" error message every time I used it. I have deleted and re-installed and still no luck.
Used to be able to check schedules/delays - now it just says unable to route station to station
This USED to be a great app. But the train times and routing information hasnt worked for weeks. So like the title says, it used to be great, but now its basically useless.
As a new resident I found this app extremely useful and awesome. But since the latest update it doesnt map your route anymore - its so frustrating- please fix this app! It was soooo great now its like having a third nipple - just uselessness:(
This app is completely useless if you dont live exactly along one of the metro lines apparently. All I wanted to do was find out how long it took to go from Point A to Point B and it doesnt want to tell me that because I live at Point C. But who cares whats at Point C? Stupid app.
Why does this app not update anymore? I cannot get a travel schedule anymore. I cant get proper departure times or trip total times! It tells me unable to try bus routes or another time. If I try another time to use it gives the same error! What have you done to my favorite app??? How am I supposed to plan my trips around and to-from work? Fix please!!!!!
